Abstract

This thesis examines conversations containing conventional implicatures in WhatsApp researchers. The research aims to identify the types and describe the meaning of conventional implicature language forms in WhatsApp chats. The research method used descriptive qualitative to describe, explain, and answer in detail the problem to be studied using words whose results emphasize meaning. The research findings show that there are 9 forms of language divided into 6 types of conventional implicatures: relevance, cultural, humor, presupposition, expressive, and causal. The research results showed that each of the 9 forms of language has an implicit and conventional meaning so that the meaning contained could be generally understood. This research serves to contribute to the understanding of conventional implicatures that occur in digital communication.
