Abstract
students experience obstacles such as limited vocabulary, improper pronunciation, grammatical errors, and low confidence when speaking. This study aims to identify and analyze the speaking difficulties faced by grade X students at Sabilillah An-Nadliyah High School in learning English. This study used a descriptive qualitative approach with data collection techniques through observation, in-depth interviews, questionnaires, and documentation. The results showed that there are three main factors that influence students' speaking difficulties, namely lack of motivation, low self confidence, and an unsupportive social environment. Lack of motivation causes students to be passive and have no drive to try speaking. Meanwhile, low self-confidence arises from fear of mistakes, ridicule from peers, and previous negative experiences. Social environmental factors, such as negative comments, lack of empathy, and a competitive classroom atmosphere, reinforce students' psychological barriers to speaking English. These findings point to the important role of teachers and schools in creating a safe, supportive and inclusive learning atmosphere for students to develop their speaking skills optimally.
