Abstract

This research aims to describe the implementation of Edpuzzle to develop students’ critical thinking skill in learning narrative text, to describe the students’ critical thinking skills developed through Edpuzzle in learning narrative text, and to describe the students’ perception of the use of Ed-Puzzle to think critically in learning narrative text of the ninth-grade students at SMPN 2 Krian. A mix-method was the research method. 33 students of ninth graders of SMPN 2 Krian were the research subject. The instruments used of this research were field note, interview guidelines, test and questionnaire. The research finding showed that the stages of Edpuzzle implementation to develop students’ critical thinking skill in narrative text were providing pretest, explaining how to learn narrative text by using Edpuzzle application, providing posttest by using Edpuzzle application, and assessing students’ answers. The students looked very enthusiastic and interest to use the Edpuzzle application in their learning. Furthermore, to answer the second research question, the students’ critical thinking skill in learning narrative text develop by using Edpuzzle application. The development of students’ critical thinking skill can be seen from the improvement score, which was 1010 from the total value, and average or Mean was about 30,6. To answer the third research question, the students’ perception on the use of Edpuzzle as the media to develop students’ critical thinking skill in learning narrative text got a positive response. 80,7% students’ perception for the usage of Edpuzzle were in the strongly agree category. Further, students’ perceptions of their critical thinking skills that can develop using the Edpuzzle application are in the strongly agree category (84.5%).
