Abstract
In the current era of technological and informational advancement, English speaking skills have become essential in everyday life. However, many learners perceive English as a difficult subject, which often creates a psychological barrier to learning. To address this issue, the ELSA Speak application offers a solution. Developed in 2015 by Vu Van in San Fransisco, ELSA Speak is an artificial intelligence based language learning app that focuses on speaking and pronunciation. This study aims to examine the effectiveness of the ELSA Speak application in improving students’ English-speaking skills and to assess the level of difficulty experienced by users. This quantitative research employed a pre experimental method using a one-group pre-test and post-test design. The findings show that the average post-test scores were significantly higher than the pre-test score, with a 39% increase in student performance. These results suggest that ELSA Speak can serve as an innovative tool to enhance students’ speaking proficiency, particularly for learners at SMK Negeri 1 Buduran.
